Welcome to Hillsboro, the Czech Capital of Wisconsin! I hope you find many interesting and enjoyable things on our website and that you will continue to return. 

Being a life-long resident of the City of Hillsboro, I am very proud of this community and the surrounding rural area. Hillsboro has strived to move forward in this new age by continuing to show that we want to excel for the generations to come. As a small community of 1,300 people, we have many advantages that we are very appreciative of. 

We have many services that everyone, young and old, look for. The school system and healthcare providers are a strong benefit to the region; the excellent park system provides entertainment and gathering places for all; many churches are available for faiths of several denominations; and the ever expanding downtown and shopping areas provide the region with many opportunities. This list could go on and with hard work, it will continue to grow. 

One of the most scenic areas of the United States can be found all around us, either by looking out your window or traveling a few miles to explore even further, such as Wildcat Mountain State Park, Kickapoo Valley Reserve, and the round barns of Vernon County. For the many tourism visitors, Hillsboro is thankful to have a hotel recently constructed near our east entrance. 

Many of their characteristics of the original European settlers, German and Czech, continue to be seen in the hard-working and strong-spirited residents of Hillsboro. Surrounding Hillsboro were many dairy farmers who brought their trade to town, and now many of those smaller family farms have changed hands, some growing bigger and carrying on the America’s Dairyland tradition, others becoming hobby farms for retiring couples moving to our region, and several becoming work places to the many Amish families making Hillsboro their home. 

More recently companies have expanded in Hillsboro, providing more job opportunities to the area, joining the other commercial base of Hillsboro as we make efforts to continue creating more job opportunities. 

Also expanding within in the city limits is a new residential area called Tinker’s Bluff, with some of those beautiful scenic wide open views common to this rolling hill region.
